The long anticipated wait for this trip is finally over. After a hectic last day in New Jersey yesterday, followed by a few "see you soon's", I was off to South America at 7pm Friday night (7/18/14).
Three airports later, one layover in Peru, and 21 hours of total travel led me to my homestay in the city of Buenos Aires. In such a short amount of time, it was difficult to take everything in. Adjusting to hearing mainly Spanish is going to take some getting used to, but I'm confident that it will all work out.
My host family is a couple that have lived in Buenos Aires for many years and have hosted students from all over the world for just as long. Between myself and another student from Delaware, Ben, the family hosts 5 students at a time. The other 3 are from Columbia and El Salvador.
Tonight the family is having people over for a friend's birthday. So we will be meeting plenty more people, for sure.
Pictured below is just a few things that I've seen since leaving the US. First picture was our route to Peru, the second was the last flight I was on, the third is my own room at the homestay (don't mind the pink and green sheets..), and the fourth is the view outside my windows in BA.
"Don't listen to what they say. Go and see."
